Welcome to Chapterhouse...

Welcome to the home of Chapterhouse Theatre Company! We are one of a number of open-air touring theatre companies who brave the elements to present shows for children and grown-ups alike in, quite simply, some of the most beautiful surroundings possible.

Our 2009 summer season is the highlight of this, our 10th Anniversary year, and we are thrilled to be presenting five wonderful new productions throughout the UK and Ireland. Rehearsals have been in full swing for a number of weeks now, and the cast of ‘Merlin the Magician’ and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ have left our production base in Lincoln to begin their tour of the UK and Ireland. They have already visited some wonderful venues, and performed to enraptured audiences.

Laura Turner, the writer of ‘Merlin the Magician’, said,

“It was amazing to watch the dress rehearsal of ‘Merlin the Magician’ and see how the production has been brought so alive through the hard work and talents of director Andrew Ashenden and his wonderful cast. Dress rehearsals are always a particularly exciting evening, as everyone is eager to see their weeks of hard work come together on stage, and the cast were buzzing as they were heading off on tour the very next morning for their first performance. The atmosphere was really euphoric and the performance was wonderful, and everything was exactly how I hoped it would be so thank you to everyone involved! I can’t wait for the dress rehearsal of ‘Sense and Sensibility’!”

Rehearsals for ‘Sense and Sensibility’ are coming to an end in the next week and they too will soon be leaving us to begin their own tour of the some of the UK’s most beautiful venues. Director Beck Gadsby is doing a fantastic job as she always does, and everyone has been working like Trojan horses to make sure the production looks immaculate when it leaves Lincoln, so a big thank you to everyone who has been painting, sewing, tidying, and doing all those other important chores!

Lincoln will seem relatively quiet for a while as the actors head off, but not for long, as the cast for our brand new children’s show, ‘Cinderella’, will soon be arriving to begin their own rehearsals. We are very excited to be welcoming Andrew McWilliam back to direct the show, and I’m sure that children, mums, dads and grandparents will be eagerly awaiting the next instalment of Louisa and Milky-White’s fairytale adventures!
