Summer 2010 Our shows are booking up very quickly and tickets for many of our venues are now on sale at www.seetickets.com. If you would like to host one of our shows, we would very much like to hear from you. Look out for a special announcement about our Winter 2010 tour, coming soon! Pride
and Prejudice The Merchant of Venice A Midsummer Night's Dream Beauty and the Beast by Laura Turner Much Ado About Nothing
At the start of the year, we announced four of the productions that will be touring the UK and Ireland during the summer of 2011, as we have been receiving so much interest already. The shows are: ‘Cranford’ ‘The Taming of
the Shrew’ ‘A Midsummer
Night’s Dream’ ‘Snow White’ We are now also thrilled to announce that our fifth and final production for 2011 will be a revival of our most successful production to date, 'Sense and Sensibility'. Adapted for the stage by Laura Turner, we toured this Jane Austen classic in 2009 to some of our biggest audiences in our history of ten years of touring. Everyone here at Chapterhouse is very excited about the return of the production, which will tour the UK and Ireland from June until September 2011 with 'Cranford', 'The Taming of the Shrew', 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and 'Snow White'. See below for more details on the shows... As for our 2010 tours, tour schedules are being firmed up as we speak, and Sam leaves us on Friday for her maternity leave. She will be missed at the office, but we wish her the best of luck over the coming weeks and months. We are very pleased to announce that Georgina Nurse and Richard Ison are returning to work with Chapterhouse in 2010 to create costumes and props for our shows. Both worked with us during the early years of Chapterhouse, so it is a pleasure to be working with them again and we cannot wait to see their wonderful new creations. In an exciting new project for 2010, this year, for the first time, posters for all our shows will be available on our website for you to download and enjoy, wherever you are! If you are a venue, a school, a newsagent, or quite simply a theatre-lover, our posters are for everyone and we would like to encourage you all to take the opportunity to print off the designs and display them wherever you would like. If you belong to a group or society, why not share our posters with your group: remember, all group bookings receive a discount! John has been working hard on our stunning new publicity images and materials and we will be finalising venue information in the next few weeks. Posters will be going to print in March, and will reach the website soon after, so keep checking the website for more updates on this and all the other goings on here at Chapterhouse! ‘Cranford’ Relax into a lazy summer’s evening of delightful entertainment as Chapterhouse transports you to the sleepy Victorian town of Cranford. Based on Elizabeth Gaskell’s classic novel, this brand-new adaptation of ‘Cranford’ will bring a smile to young and old alike as the adventures and dramas of life in the countryside are brought to a picturesque venue near you. ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ The battle of the sexes is in full swing as Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents one of Shakespeare’s most controversial comedies, ‘The Taming of the Shrew’. Feisty Katharina meets her match in Petruchio, who slowly manages to woe this so-called shrew of a woman with a somewhat unconventional courtship. Misogynistic merriment will meet the magic of true love under beautiful summer skies at some of the UK and Ireland’s most spectacular venues. Be sure to join Chapterhouse in 2011, as tricks, tantrums and lovers’ tiffs create a hilarious evening’s entertainment. ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ Everyone’s favourite Shakespearean story of frolicking fairies, lovers lost in the woods and the misadventures of a hilarious group of mechanicals, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ is sure to bring a smile to young and old alike during the summer of 2011. Join Chapterhouse Theatre Company as they whisk you into the mystical forest where Puck and his fellow fairies wreck havoc with the quarrelling lovers. Complete with period costume, music, song, dance, and a donkey, Chapterhouse’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ is not to be missed. ‘Snow White’ This beloved fairytale will be brought to life for audiences across the UK in 2011 as Snow White finds a rather unusual group of friends, deep in the forest. Children and adults alike will adore this lovely new adaptation of such a familiar story as six 1940s’ children decide to perform their own version of the tale one hot summer’s afternoon. Join the children and their special friend Milky-White the cow for a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment – and don’t forget to come in fancy dress for the Fairytale Parade during the interval!
‘Sense and Sensibility’ Join Chapterhouse Theatre Company for an evening of Regency wonderment as Elinor and Marianne Dashwood make their first forays into the excitingly decadent world of eighteenth-century high society. Follow the sisters as they fall in love, make mistakes and experience heartbreak for the first time in their quest to find a balance between sense and sensibility.
