2011 TOURS

“The slapstick exchanges between competitive Romeos, Demetrius and Lysander, were delivered with such gusto that it was hard to decide whether the cast or audience were enjoying it more.” The Leighton Buzzard Citizen, 2009

Hamlet can so easily become a dark pastiche of tragedy and melodrama, but here at the hands of director Karen Crow, it has a vigour that allows for warm sunny notes to contrast sharply with icy blasts of cool tragedy…another triumph for the company.” Lincolnshire Echo, 2003

”Chapterhouse Theatre Company’s production is energetic throughout.” Richmond and Twickenham Times, 2003

“entertained to a standard that left us still buzzing” BBC Learning Centre Gloucester, 2004

“no chance of failure here” Plymouth Evening Herald, 2004

Press and Publicity

Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents their most ambitious and exciting season of open-air productions touring throughout Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland. A Company nationally recognized and acclaimed for its consistently high standards of performance presents its eleventh season of touring productions, with three of William Shakespeare’s most popular plays visiting Country Houses across Great Britain, Northern Ireland and Ireland, as well as Jane Austen's classic love story, Pride and Prejudice and our wonderful new children's show for 2010, Beauty and the Beast. Our exciting new adaptation of A Christmas Carol, touring theatres from November 2010 to January 2011, is another Chapterhouse treat not to be missed.

From a first year of performances at some thirty venues, with Romeo and Juliet, the company has established itself as one of the most successful and acclaimed touring companies in the country. In previous years, the company has toured a variety of shows, including Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night and Much Ado About Nothing, together with performances of classic works such as The Mystery Plays, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. What's more, in 2004, the company produced the first West End show ever to tour open-air, ART, directed by Nigel Havers.

Chapterhouse now perform at over 150 different locations around Britain and Ireland for their garden theatre season, together with many of the most beautiful settings, including Castle Ward, Holkham Hall and Picton Castle.

Whether a play seen under the stars or during an afternoon of summer’s bliss, Chapterhouse welcomes you to their 2010 season.
